On November 3, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province said it had received Official Letter No. T704-631 dated October 1, 2025 from the Russian Federation Trade Representative Office in Vietnam introducing AvtoVAZ Joint Stock Company (Lada Automobile Company) wishing to learn about the market and cooperate in development in Thanh Hoa.
Vice Chairman of Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee - Mr. Dau Thanh Tung assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Finance, the Department of Foreign Affairs and related units to study and propose; based on current regulations and actual situation to proactively discuss with AvtoVAZ on cooperation needs, propose related contents and report to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee according to regulations.
Lada is a brand of AvtoVAZ, one of the major Russian auto groups, headquartered in Tolyatti, formed in 1966 with technical support from Fiat.
models such as Lada 2101, 2107, Samara and especially Niva were familiar in Vietnam from the late 1980s to the early 2000s thanks to their practicality, complex road operation and affordable costs.
After a period of absence, Lada shows signs of returning: in 2025, the first batch of cars will be brought to Vietnam with Granta, Vesta, Niva Legend and Niva Travel models, spread across the sedan and SUV segments. However, limitations in safety equipment, driving assistance and the distribution network - after-sales is still a challenge at the beginning.
According to the direction, the Department of Industry and Trade will work with AvtoVAZ to clarify the needs, conditions for cooperation, and plans for organizing the meeting between the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee and the company; at the same time, coordinate with relevant departments to review financial aspects, taxes, technical standards, after-sales components - services, localization and connection of the industrial ecosystem in the area.
