The State Council of Professors on October 10 announced a list of 836 candidates approved by the Provincial and Interdisciplinary Professors' Councils in 2025. This list does not include candidates for the two majors of Military Science and Security Science.
Compared to the initial list, 97 people were eliminated, equivalent to 89.6% of candidates passing the round of the Committees of sectors and inter-sectors.
Of which, the Economics major had the largest number of candidates with 17 cases (including 4 doctoral candidates and 13 associate professor candidates).
Next is the Information Technology major, the Electrical - Electronics - Automation interdisciplinary, the Earth Sciences - Mining interdisciplinary, each council has 10 unqualified candidates.

Ranked 5th is Mathematics, with 9 unqualified candidates, followed by Medicine (7 candidates), followed by the interdisciplinary field of Chemistry - Food Technology (6 candidates), Education Science (5 candidates).
According to the plan, from October 20 to October 31, the State Council of Professors will meet to review and recognize the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2025.
According to the process, universities establish a grassroots Council to select eligible candidates, then propose to the State Council.
These documents were then assigned to the Industry Council and the interdisciplinary assessment to select those who did not meet the requirements. Finally, the State Council reviews and approves the list of standards, and announces it in November and December every year.
To be considered, candidates must be the main author of 3-5 articles in journals in the ISI, Scopus (prestigious data system, summarizing and citing scientific articles) or the category prescribed by the State Council of Professors.
Last year, out of more than 670 initial nominations, the number recognized was 567, reaching an rate of 84.2%.
