Recently, car fires have often occurred on the expressways through Binh Thuan.
According to the Criminal Techniques Department of Binh Thuan Provincial Police, this situation has many objective and subjective reasons such as the owner's operation method or problems related to power outages, fuel leaks, etc. However, one of the main causes of vehicle fires is the use of electrical equipment that does not meet safety standards; self-connection of equipment related to power sources without understanding science and technology.

Many car owners tend to install additional equipment such as LED lights, entertainment screens or audio loudspeakers without complying with electrical safety standards. If connected incorrectly, the vehicle's electrical system can be overloaded, on fire or leaked, leading to serious consequences. In addition, using poor quality or compatible components with the vehicle's original electrical system also increases the risk of problems.
For example, the fire of a car with license plate 89C - 080.XX occurred on July 7, 2024 at Km 219 of Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet highway through Ham Liem commune, Ham Thuan Bac district, Binh Thuan province. Discovering the burning vehicle, the driver called a fire truck and put out the fire. However, the car and the goods on the car were damaged and completely burned.

Through the scene investigation, the appraiser of the Criminal Techniques Department - Binh Thuan Provincial Police determined that the first fire started at the area where the electric vehicle was placed in the middle of the truck bed. The cause of the incident was that the power lines had their shells peeled off, exposing the metal wires, causing electrical contact.
The Criminal Techniques Department - Binh Thuan Provincial Police recommends that vehicle owners and vehicle operators pay attention to choosing suitable equipment, with clear origins and ensuring technical safety standards, avoiding installing and transporting electrical consumption equipment exceeding the permitted capacity of the electrical system on the vehicle.

Do not arbitrarily overlap the power lines. It is necessary to regularly monitor the above electrical equipment and quickly replace the degraded equipment due to long-term use.
Minimize the connection and change of the structure of the vehicle's original electrical equipment. If there is a need for change, you should contact experienced technicians and reputable maintenance and repair centers to install it safely, ensuring the quality and performance of the vehicle.
