More than 94% of electric vehicle users choose to continue using them in the future

According to recent announcements from prestigious organizations around the world, the increasing number of electric vehicle purchases reflects the strong shift to electric vehicles of countries, including Vietnam.

Using an electric vehicle, not wanting to return to a gasoline vehicle

J.D.Power (a US company specializing in data, software and consumer information analysis) recently released a report showing that nearly 59.7% of consumers planning to buy new cars are considering choosing electric vehicles in the next twelfth month.

The rate of users who currently own electric vehicles who want to continue to accompany this vehicle is 94%. Of which, 79% confirmed that they will certainly continue to buy or rent electric vehicles when changing vehicles. The high level of satisfaction comes from the actual operation and the cost of use being lower than gasoline vehicles.

According to J.D.Power, the top reasons to convince consumers to switch to electric vehicles include a sharp decrease in operating costs (57%), tax incentives (51%), operational capability (48%), car rental prices or incentives (47%), design (35%). Notably, 60% of electric vehicle users believe that owning and operating electric vehicles is significantly cheaper than gasoline vehicles.

These figures show that quality and cost are important factors, causing international users to prioritize electric vehicles. For those who already own a vehicle, the stability of electricity costs, less minor damage and the ability to meet travel needs make drivers feel secure.

Vietnam's electric vehicle market continues to rise

Along with the wave of electric vehicle conversion in the world, in Vietnam, electric car sales have continuously increased. In October, VinFast sales held 32% of the industry market share. This is also the company's highest level since the beginning of the year. The number of cars sold in a month by VinFast is equivalent to the total sales of many companies combined for the whole quarter.

This trend reflects the strong increase in demand for electric vehicles in Vietnam, similar to the international market. Domestic users said that the reason for switching to electric vehicles is mainly due to the quality of the vehicle being increasingly proven in practice. Not only better equipped than gasoline cars in the same segment, VinFast electric cars are also trusted by many people for their durability, many safe and smart technologies to support users, and good performance on many types of terrain.

Another reason that many people mention is low operating costs, especially with VinFast's free charging policy until mid-2027. In addition, electric vehicles are less damaged, do not have to change engine oil, and have low periodic maintenance costs, making users feel more economical.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thang (Tay Mo ward, Hanoi) said that after 6 months of using an electric vehicle, he saw that travel costs have decreased significantly. Previously, he spent nearly 2.2 million VND per month on gas. Currently, for electric vehicles, the expenditure is 0 VND. Mr. Thang commented: "I do not have to pay for oil changes, maintenance is much less, so the total operating cost has decreased sharply".

Ms. Pham Thu Huong (Dong Ngac ward) uses an electric car to go to work every day. According to Ms. Huong, "going by electric car is easy, smooth, and the cost of parking is low, so I have no reason to return to gasoline cars".

Shares from domestic users show a common point: The quality of electric vehicles is completely superior while the operating cost is much lower than that of gasoline vehicles. This is similar to a survey by J.D.Power, when the majority of international users highly appreciate electric vehicles in many aspects.

Analysis and practical experience show that electric vehicles are creating a great advantage in terms of use value and cost. This is also a factor that contributes to the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market in Vietnam in recent times.
