Vietnam's auto market welcomes many new car models in August, ranging from electric cars, hybrids to internal combustion engine cars, belonging to many different segments.

August 2026 recorded the appearance of many new car models in Vietnam. New products come from both Chinese and European brands, including models that are officially distributed for the first time in the Vietnamese market.

Notably, Jaecoo J5 is one of the new models with many powertrain options. The B-segment urban SUV of the Jaecoo brand belonging to Chery Group is assembled at the factory of the Geleximco - Chery joint venture in Hung Yen.

J5 is distributed with three types of powertrains including internal combustion (ICE), hybrid (HEV) and pure electric (BEV) engines. The car has a total of 4 versions, targeting customers looking for a high-chassis model with many operating technology options.

Also in August, Lynk & Co 02 was introduced in Vietnam, becoming Lynk & Co's first pure electric car model in this market. The coupe-style CUV model is officially imported from China and targets young customers.

Lynk & Co 02 uses an electric motor placed on the rear axle, with a capacity of 268 horsepower and a maximum torque of 343 Nm. The car is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, with a maximum speed of 180 km/h. The 66 kWh battery pack provides a range of about 435 km after each full charge. The car supports DC fast charging with a maximum capacity of 150 kW, allowing charging from 10-80% in about 30 minutes.

Besides 02, Lynk & Co 03 will also be brought to Vietnam this month. This is a sports-style C-segment sedan, officially imported from China.

Lynk & Co 03 uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, 170 horsepower and a maximum torque of 290 Nm. The engine combines a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and front-wheel drive. The car is distributed in two versions.

In the multi-purpose vehicle group, Wuling Grango attracts attention as a new 7-seater pure electric MPV model appearing in Vietnam. The car has a 2+2+3 seat configuration, aimed at family use needs.

The Grango uses a rear-wheeled electric motor, with a capacity of 101 horsepower and a torque of 180 Nm. The battery pack has a capacity of 32.6 kWh for a range of about 300 km. The car supports AC and DC fast charging, of which the 6.6 kW AC charger takes nearly 5 hours to fully charge the battery.

In the luxury car segment, the new generation BMW X1 will also officially launch to Vietnamese customers in August. This is the third generation of BMW's small SUV model and has many changes compared to the previous generation.

The new BMW X1 has a square design, larger size, along with a redesigned lighting and grille system. The interior is prominent with a dual screen cluster including a 10.7-inch entertainment screen and a 10.25-inch information screen behind the steering wheel.

The appearance of many new car models in August shows that manufacturers continue to expand product selection in Vietnam. Notably, electric and hybrid cars are increasingly appearing in many segments, while internal combustion engine models still play an important role in the new product portfolio.
