The Ministry of Transport has just issued Circular 53/2024/TT-BGTVT regulating the classification of road vehicles and identification signs of motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, and environmental friendliness. The Circular will take effect from January 1, 2025.
This Circular stipulates the identification signs of motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, and environmentally friendly energy as follows:
Motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, and environmentally friendly are identified according to regulations. Signs to identify motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, and environmentally friendly when participating in traffic are identified by inspection stamps with a green background.
Explaining the need for green vehicle labels, Mr. Nguyen To An - Deputy Director of the Department of Registration - said that according to the provisions of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety No. 36/2024/QH15 (effective from January 1, 2025), the Ministry of Transport is responsible for issuing Circulars regulating the classification of road vehicles, regulating identification signs for motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, and being environmentally friendly.
Before the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety was issued and took effect, detailed regulations on the classification of road motor vehicles in particular and road vehicles in general were stipulated in many different sub-law documents, leading to inconsistent content, even conflicts and difficulties in applying them to state management in many fields.
The Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety stipulates that the Minister of Transport shall specify in detail the classification of road vehicles; and prescribe signs to identify motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, and environmentally friendly energy, which will ensure consistency in the classification of road vehicles.
