According to Aston Martin, the company has been building the Valkyrie for the past 3 years and will soon launch it on the market. To prove the car's capabilities, Aston Martin has tested it on the Silverstone racetrack - one of the most famous racetracks in the world.
With a lap time of 1:56.42, the Valkyrie easily beats the Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT2 RS's record of 2:06.83. The Valkyrie's time is also nearly 2 seconds faster than the 2019 record of 1:58.165 set by the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 on slicks.
"I'm not sure what more we could have done, but maybe on a better day we could have had a better result," said Le Mans driver Darren Turner, who drove the Valkyrie.
Notably, when Aston Martin began developing the Valkyrie, the company claimed that the car would be as fast as a Formula 1 car. However, with the current results, the Valkyrie is still far behind the F1 record at Silverstone of 1 minute 27.097 seconds set in 2020.
However, with the current time, the commercial Aston Martin Valkyrie has set a quite impressive record compared to cars in the same segment.
