A resident in Hanoi said that he has a B1 class car driving license issued on July 20, 2023.
Sending a question to the Ministry of Transport, this man asked, if he wanted to drive Grab and taxi services, could he use a B1 class car driving license, or would he have to study additional conditions?
Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Transport responded as follows:
From January 1, 2025, the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety takes effect, and the B-class driving license will replace the current B1 and B2 classes.
To practice as a commercial driver in transportation, in addition to owning a Class B driver's license, people must complete a training course and have a transportation certificate according to the new regulations.
Thus, from 2025, to drive for business, people need a Class B driver's license and a transportation professional certificate.
Currently, the Vietnam Road Administration is handing over the management of the test and issuing a driver's license to the Ministry of Public Security. However, because the handover has not been completed, the Department of Roads still requires the Departments of Transport to continue receiving procedures for issuing and renewing driving licenses.
