Speaking at the launching ceremony and announcement of the price of the Omoda C5 model, Mr. Vu Van Tien, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of Geleximco Group, shared about the process of "joining hands" with Chery Group and affirmed that he will turn Vietnam into the capital of Chery car production in the region with a capacity of up to 200,000 cars/year.
Vehicles produced at the Thai Binh plant will not only supply the domestic market but also be exported. Geleximco's joint venture will also establish a design and manufacturing center in Thai Binh to transfer technology from Chery.
Before localizing the joint venture car lines with Chery, Geleximco paved the way for Omoda & Jaecoo with the C5 model imported from Indonesia. This decision is considered not easy because the C5 will join the B+ SUV segment, the segment with the fiercest competition today with dozens of names for customers to choose from. There may be many famous competitors on the market such as Hyundai Creta, Toyota Cross, Mitsubishi Xforce, Toyota Yaris Cross, Kia Seltos, Honda HR-V, Mazda CX-3 and Mazda CX-30.
In addition, the C5 also has to compete with new, less popular names such as Lynk & Co 06, Peugeot 2008, Nissan Kicks, MG ZS, MG4 EV, BYD Atto 3, VinFast VF 6, GAC Aion Y Plus and most recently Subaru Crosstrek.
However, the head of Geleximco is very confident with this model. The C5 has an overall size of 4,400mm long, 1,830mm wide and 1,585mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,630mm. The car has a sporty, strong exterior design with embossed lines along the body, a diamond-shaped radiator grille, full LED headlights with integrated T-shaped daytime running lights, and piano-key LED taillights.
The car's interior attracts attention with a 10.25-inch dual screen, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, along with voice command, 2-zone automatic air conditioning system, and electric seats.
Omoda C5 is equipped with a 1.5 Turbo engine that provides powerful performance, generating 145 horsepower, 210Nm torque and CVT gearbox with front-wheel drive.
The safety system includes 6 airbags, along with driving assistance systems such as ABS brakes, EBD, ESP, HAC, TCS, ADAS.
To attract customers, Omoda C5 is covered by 01 body insurance, 02 years or 20,000km free service maintenance and 7 years or 1 million km warranty (whichever comes first).
In Vietnam, Omoda C5 has 2 versions: Premium with price of 589 million VND and Flagship with price of 669 million VND.
