New car prices are increasingly accessible
VinFast VF 2 is one of the newest car models with the lowest price in the Vietnamese market, with a listed price of 188 million VND, including batteries. The model is positioned for urban driving needs, targeting customers who need a compact and easy-to-use vehicle.
In the similar product group, Bestune Xiaoma is priced from about 199 million VND. The Chinese electric car model has 4-seater configuration, compact size and operating range suitable for urban travel needs.
Wuling also maintains its presence in the low-price group with Mini EV LV2, priced from about 197 million VND. Meanwhile, VinFast Minio Green has a listed price of 269 million VND, while VF 3 is in the price range below 300 million VND.
The continuous appearance of new products shows that the mini electric car segment is gradually forming its own competition. Instead of just competing with equipment or design, manufacturers must create attractive prices to reach the general customer group.
Price range between traditional motorbikes and cars
The most notable point of this trend is that the group of mini electric cars is filling the previously almost empty price range. With a budget of less than 300 million VND, previous buyers mainly had to choose old cars. Meanwhile, they can now consider a new car, even if they have to accept limits on size, power and operating range.
These car models are mainly suitable for urban travel, short distances and small families. This is also a group of customers who used to depend heavily on motorbikes but are starting to need to switch to four-wheeled vehicles.
Notably, the low-price race shows no signs of stopping. The market has seen information about mini electric car models with an expected price of only about 145 million VND. If commercialized at this level, the floor price of new cars in Vietnam will continue to be set at an unprecedented low.
However, the selling price is not the only factor that determines success. Charging station systems, usage costs, safety, after-sales service and operating range will be criteria that buyers must consider.
However, the fact that new cars are continuously moving down to the price range of 200-300 million VND is creating a clear change in the market. Mini electric cars may become a transition from motorbikes to cars, while creating pressure forcing manufacturers to change their approach to the general customer group.
