On the evening of August 24, information from the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of Hanoi City Police said that on the same day, the unit made a record of handling a male driver for the act of installing 2 different license plates on the same car while traveling on the road.
Previously, on August 21, a video appeared on social networks recording images of a car circulating on the road. Notably, the front and rear of the car were equipped with 2 license plates with different information.
Upon receiving the information, the Hanoi Traffic Police Department directed Road Traffic Police Team No. 3 to urgently verify and handle the incident.
Through the AI camera system, the traffic police force tracked and recorded the vehicle's movement path.
Accordingly, the front of the car is license plate 89A-655. xx, while the rear is license plate 35A-118. xx. This car was identified as having traveled through many roads in the city.
By professional measures, the traffic police force identified the vehicle driver as Mr. T.T. T (born in 1988, residing in Hung Yen province) and invited him to the police agency to work.
At the police station, Mr. T admitted that license plate 89A-655. xx was issued to a red VinFast VF5 car. Due to frequent traffic participation and concern that the vehicle would be recorded by cameras and fined remotely, he arbitrarily took the license plate of another vehicle and attached it to the back of his car to avoid being detected and handled for violations.
Based on the verification results, Road Traffic Police Team No. 3 made a record of administrative violation against Mr. T.T. T for the act of "Controlling a vehicle with a license plate not in accordance with the vehicle registration certificate".
According to the provisions of Decree No. 168/2024/ND-CP, amended and supplemented by Decree No. 238/2026/ND-CP, the above act is fined 23 million VND and deducted 10 points from the driver's license.
Through the incident, the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police recommends that traffic participants absolutely do not arbitrarily change or use license plates that are not in accordance with regulations.
The intentional use of other license plates to evade inspection and supervision by functional forces will be detected and strictly handled according to the provisions of law.
