It is known that the world-famous car company - Stellantis will recall some Jeep Wrangler models from 2020 to 2024 and Jeep Grand Cherok models from 2022 to 2024. This recall includes 154,000 vehicles in the US, 14,000 vehicles in Canada, 700 vehicles in Mexico and nearly 26,000 vehicles outside North America.
Stellantis representatives said the potential fire risk is related to a component in the battery. The fires occurred when the hybrid cars were parked and the engines were turned off.
Stellantis estimates that about 5 percent of the affected hybrids may have this problem. It also notes that the risk of fire decreases as the battery is depleted, and recommends that owners not recharge their vehicles and park them away from structures or other vehicles. It says a fix is coming soon.
Stellantis is known as a multinational automobile manufacturing corporation founded in 2021 when the American-Italian Fiat Chrysler Automobiles merged with the French PSA Group in a 50-50 ratio. The company is headquartered in the Netherlands and includes subsidiaries Peugeot, Chrysler Group, and Groupe PSA.
