2025 witnessed the strong development of the Hybrid car line. According to statistics from VAMA, there were 14,171 Hybrid cars sold in the past year, an increase of 44% compared to the same period last year, many new models launched on the market, bringing a variety of choices to customers. Among them, the Full Hybrid (HEV- Hybrid self-charged) configuration prevails due to fuel economy without relying on charging station infrastructure. With sales of 8,389 cars, Toyota accounts for 59% of the market share in this car segment with key models including Corolla Cross, Innova Cross and Camry.
At the beginning of 2026, a representative of Toyota Vietnam said: Toyota Vietnam has prepared plans to change the selling price for HEV models as soon as the special consumption tax law takes effect. However, which car models will be reduced and what the reduction level is, the company will need to work specifically with departments and agencies on criteria to determine which car models are subject to the price reduction policy. In addition, from January 1, 2026, the company officially implements the genuine warranty program, with a term of up to 10 years or 185,000 km (whichever comes first), completely free for customers to undergo full periodic maintenance according to Toyota standards.
Customers only need to maintain maintenance according to recommendations every 6 months or 5,000 km (whichever condition comes first) at the genuine Toyota dealer system nationwide, warranty benefits will be continuously extended. The preferential policy of up to 34% of the battery value (depending on the car model) for customers who exchange old batteries for new batteries is also applied throughout the dealer system.
In addition, preferential loan interest rate programs and monthly registration fee support are also of positive significance in helping the environmentally friendly and convenient car line - Hybrid Electric get closer to a large number of customers.
Most recently, Toyota Vietnam applied a new retail price for some Hybrid Electric models (the price includes 10% Value Added Tax). Specific reductions for car models are as follows: Yaris Cross HEV reduced by 37 million VND, Corolla Cross HEV reduced by 40 million VND, Camry HEV TOP reduced by 70 million VND and Alphard HEV reduced by 200 million VND. Corolla Cross and Camry are 2 of the 5 best-selling Hybrid cars in 2025. Innova Cross is still being considered for tax incentives or not.
For more than 5 years, the Japanese automaker has made significant efforts to affirm the suitability of the gasoline-electric hybrid car line in the Vietnamese market. Now, the reputation of technology, battery life, car quality and practical role to the environment have been affirmed. Toyota, Honda, Suzuki and many other automakers have been taking drastic actions to promote the development of hybrid cars in Vietnam.
