German car brand Amarok has increased the appeal of the Volkswagen Amarok model by breaking the Guinness World Record for crossing 10 deserts in the fastest time in Australia.
According to the company, a group of experienced drivers including Rainer Zietlow, Marius Biela and Brad Bowman drove the Amarok across 10 harsh Australian deserts with 6,421 km (3,990 miles) of terrain in 6 days and 17 hours. This achievement is the fastest result, breaking previous records.
Despite operating in harsh conditions, the Amarok can still be completed without much scratch. According to local news site CarExpert, the truck suffered only oneapered during the adventure. The vehicle consumed 1,199 liters of diesel on the way. This is equivalent to an average consumption of 18.7 liters per 100km (12.6 MPG).
Although this is not an economical consumption level, this number is quite impressive when having to travel long distances on endless sand dunes and rocky trails.
This record-breaking Volkswagen Amarok has been improved to a true off-road vehicle thanks to the addition of accessories such as off-road trackers, additional LED lights, roof storage, air vents, luxurious exterior paint and four spare tires in the rear axle.
The suspension is raised to 40 mm (1.6 inches), creating a ground clearance of up to 275 mm (10.8 inches). Additional under-seat protection and larger tires are also designed to complete the product package, ensuring Amarok is best equipped to handle Australia's rugged terrain.
This improved model is expected to be available in Australian showrooms in the second quarter of 2025. Volkswagen has not yet disclosed the production quantity for the Australian model, but it is certain that the monopoly will contribute to increasing the attractiveness of the car.
