Mitsubishi Eclipse is a compact sports car line produced through four generations from 1990 to 2012, with an additional convertible version in 1996. The first two generations of Eclipse were marketed under many different names, including Eagle Talon and Plymouth Laser, the result of a partnership between Mitsubishi Motors and Chrysler Corporation, leading to the birth of the Diamond-Star Motors (DSM) joint venture. In Japan, the first two generations are distributed through the Mitsubishi Car Plaza retail system.
The third generation (2000-2005) uses an extended wheelbase variation, sharing the platform with the Chrysler sebring and Dodge Stratus. The fourth generation, introduced in May 2005, replaced the Chrysler platform with the PS platform. Mitsubishi said that the name "Eclipse" was inspired by an unbeaten race horse in England in the 18th century, who won 18 consecutive races before retiring. The Eclipse was last produced in August 2011 and auctioned for charity. In 2017, Mitsubishi revived the name Eclipse on the compact crossover Eclipse Cross.
In Vietnam, Mitsubishi Eclipse is not too rare, but it is not easy to see a wheelchair on the street. The car in the article is one of the rare examples, both maintaining its typical sporty appearance and attracting attention thanks to its eye-catching paint color.
