On January 26, Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province Tran Van Lau signed an urgent dispatch requesting the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Soc Trang Water Supply Joint Stock Company, according to their functions and tasks, to urgently find local solutions to overcome the situation of water shortage and weak water for people; ensure water supply, especially before and during the Lunar New Year 2025.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, many people sent letters to Lao Dong Newspaper reflecting that recently in Soc Trang City, the situation of weak water and water shortage has affected production, business activities and people's lives, especially as the Lunar New Year is approaching.
Accordingly, on January 24 and January 26, the water supplied by Soc Trang Water Supply Joint Stock Company flowed very weakly, many households used washing machines but the water could not be pumped up, people had to use buckets to scoop water in; high places such as bathroom showers, kitchen sink faucets, and vegetable washing faucets could not be pumped up...
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Dang Van Ngo - General Director of Soc Trang Water Supply Joint Stock Company - admitted the shortage of water and weak flow in the days before Tet.
Mr. Ngo explained that the main reason is due to the increased demand for water from people to clean their houses and prepare for Tet.
"This situation has lasted for many years, especially during the Lunar New Year. At this time, the water usage increases, leading to some lines temporarily being weak or having no water for a short time," said Mr. Ngo.
Mr. Ngo also said that the company has a hotline during Tet to receive people's feedback and send staff to directly resolve problems.
