On April 1, information from the Provincial Hydrometeorological and Hydrological Station said that the water level of the Lo River at the section passing through Tuyen Quang City only reached 11.25m, 18cm lower than in 2023 and was the lowest level ever recorded.
According to meteorologists, the reason for the sharp decline in water levels is the impact of the El Nino phenomenon, causing widespread rainfall over the past year to decrease sharply, prolonging the water shortage.
The low water level of the Lo River greatly affects production and daily life. Especially households raising fish in cages along both banks of the river.
To cope with this situation, the Provincial Hydrometeorological and Hydrological Station recommends that organizations and individuals regularly monitor weather forecasts and hot sun warnings, proactively adjust production and living activities, and minimize damage caused by water shortages.
