Previously, the Lao Dong electronic newspaper published an article "People cry for help because of the foul smell of a pig farm in Nam Dinh". The article reflected on the anger of people in Lang Moi village (Dai Thang commune, Vu Ban district) because of the foul smell of a pig farm.
According to local people, this farm not only smells but also affects the farming of households with fields and gardens near the area. "Many times, we have discovered the discharge of black, foul-smelling wastewater into ditches and gutters, causing the water to overflow into fields and gardens. My family's field is right next to the pig farm, and the black, foul-smelling water has filled the field. Now my family leaves the field empty and does not dare to go out to cultivate it," said Ms. Do Thi Cai (69 years old, in Lang Moi village), whose family's field is only about 2 meters away from the pig farm (through a concrete fence).
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Minh Hoan - Secretary of Vu Ban District Party Committee said: "The district has established a working group to inspect and clarify the complaints of the people of Lang Moi village (Dai Thang commune) about the above pig farm. As soon as I received the information from Lao Dong Newspaper, the next day (November 29), I personally went with the district inspection team to the pig farm to inspect the situation.
Previously, the district had received feedback from voters in Lang Moi village and established a working group to inspect this farm. I had direct discussions, recorded the people's feedback and called on and assigned the people to monitor the farm's recovery work."
Vu Ban District Party Secretary added that the district has requested the farm to immediately stop re-herding and selling the existing pigs to focus on thoroughly handling the stench spreading into the surrounding environment. After the district requested, the company took initial measures such as purchasing biological products to reduce the smell.
