The report of the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City said that in 2024, the city health sector recorded 642 officials quit their jobs, including 286 doctors, 259 nurses, midwives, medical medical leave, down 28.5% compared to 2023.
In 2023, the city health sector had 898 officials, of which, 350 doctors, 365 nurses, midwives quit their jobs, decreased compared to 2021 and 2022.
Due to work pressure, low income, they moved to work at other public health units, private, private clinics to get higher income.
Notably, the number of health workers who quit their jobs has a long working time in the industry, with high experienced experiences. Meanwhile, most new employers are doctors, young nurses, new graduates, take short time to train.
According to Dr. Nguyen Hoai Nam - Deputy Director of the Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City, the rate of nurses, midwives or doctors at the clinical block of public health facilities in the city has not reached the target according to the structure of patient care.
Hospitals tend to lack nursing resources because there is no attraction, pressure, difficulties when taking patients directly and ensuring many different jobs.
The Department of Health of Ho Chi Minh City proposes the Central Government and the Government to increase toxic and dangerous allowances for health workers working in toxic environments. Proposing additional seniority allowances for difficult locations such as nurses and clinical midwives.
At the same time, proposing the Ministry of Health to supplement the position of nursing assistant, dental assistant requires intermediate level or less at public health facilities to reduce the pressure on nurses.
The Department of Health also proposes to complete and stabilize policies such as investment policies, preferential policies for allocation or lease of land, public -private partnership ... to attract private investment in health investment.
