On July 8, the inauguration ceremony of the Department of Endoscopy took place at Can Tho Central General Hospital, signing a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the Hospital and Fuji film Vietnam Co., Ltd. on gastroenterology training.
The Endoscopy Department of Can Tho Central General Hospital with an area of up to 485m2. The department is designed with 8 endoscopy rooms, including 6 digestive endoscopy rooms, 1 urology endoscopy room and 1 respiratory endoscopy room.

Currently, the Faculty conducts an average of 150 - 170 interdisciplinary endoscopy sessions per day. With a focused and complete development orientation, the Hospital plans to continue investing in 2 more digestive endoscopy systems and 1 small intestinal endoscopy system.
The first ultrasound endoscopy technique applied in the Mekong Delta region marks a new step forward, which will open up new opportunities for the diagnosis and in-depth treatment of digestive diseases.

It is known that the combination of endoscopy and ultrasound techniques is an advanced and modern method, using endoscopic wires with ultrasound detectors to help diagnose and intervene in damage to the digestive tract, gallbladder, pancreas, mucous membranes and the lining of the digestive tract.
This technique is very meaningful in diagnosing cancer at an early stage ( early detection of tumors helps improve treatment effectiveness) or detecting tumors located deep in the abdomen with a minimum level of invasion.

According to Dr. Nguyen Minh Vu - Director of Can Tho Central General Hospital, the first ultrasound endoscopy machine at the Hospital is not an endless device, but is considered a bridge of life and the gateway eyes of modern medicine. This is a condition that helps the medical team detect early, diagnose accurately and effectively treat thousands of patients in the Mekong Delta region.
"The establishment of the Endoscopy Department is a strong commitment of the hospital team to continue to learn, constantly improve professional qualifications, and put patients at the center of all efforts. When modern technology is combined with a devoted heart, it will continue to write a beautiful story about revival, about faith and hope for the people" - Dr. Vu expressed.
Within the framework of the signing ceremony, the two units also shared about the goals and development orientations, especially improving the professional qualifications of the medical team through training and application of advanced endoscopic technology.
On this occasion, Fujifilm Vietnam Co., Ltd. presented Can Tho Central General Hospital with an ultrasound endoscopy treatment system of Japanese origin. ETC Medical Equipment Company Limited donated 12 multi-purpose endoscopic beds to serve endoscopy and training. The total sponsorship value of the two units is about 3 billion VND.
