On the morning of December 19, in Ninh Binh province, with the consent of the Government and the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health solemnly held an inauguration ceremony for the construction of Bach Mai Hospital, Facility 2, and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Facility 2 - two national key medical facilities, with large scale, modernity, high technology, on par with advanced countries in the region.
The ceremony was connected to television online, as part of a series of activities to start construction and inaugurate key projects and works directed by the Government to be organized simultaneously, demonstrating the determination to promote the development of socio-economic infrastructure, in which the health sector is identified as one of the important pillars, prioritizing long-term and sustainable investment.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Le Thanh Long - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister, leaders of central ministries, departments, and branches, and leaders of Ninh Binh province.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan said that the implementation of these two projects and the Ministry of Health encountered unprecedented difficulties such as complex problems with policy mechanisms, changes in legal regulations, high technical requirements, large-scale problems including shortcomings in the implementation process along with the objective impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, causing the two projects to have to temporarily suspend construction for a long time.
"After more than 10 months of reconstruction, with a huge construction volume and many difficulties, the two projects have so far inaugurated the construction components exceeding the schedule set by Resolution 34," Minister Dao Hong Lan informed.
The Minister emphasized that the inauguration of the construction of Bach Mai Hospital, Facility 2, and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Facility 2, is an important step to put the project into operation in accordance with regulations and efficiency, meeting the expectations of the Party, State and people.
The head of the health sector also frankly said that the Ministry of Health deeply recognizes that in order to have a complete hospital in operation in accordance with the set goal, it is necessary to continue to complete the installation of machinery and equipment, arrange a team of doctors and nurses and complete legal procedures according to regulations. This is also a very important task in the next phase.
The Ministry of Health has been directing units of the Ministry, Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital to urgently continue to focus on the work to complete the procedures and put the two Hospitals into official operation. Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital fully prepare personnel for facility 2.
"The two hospitals must consider facility 2 as an inseparable part, an extension, ensuring the professional quality is the same between the two facilities. The goal is that when the hospital opens to patients, people will enjoy the quality of medical services on par with Hanoi" - Minister Dao Hong Lan emphasized.
The Ministry of Health will continue to closely coordinate with Ninh Binh province to solve problems with connecting infrastructure, utility services around the two hospitals, and especially policies to ensure the lives of medical staff working at the new facility.
Bach Mai Hospital, Facility 2 and Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Facility 2 are two national key medical projects, invested in construction with the orientation of becoming specialized, high-tech medical centers, gradually forming a modern, smart, safe hospital model, meeting the increasingly high requirements of medical examination and treatment of the people.
The completion of the construction of two hospitals not only contributes to reducing the burden on central hospitals, but also affirms the strategic vision of the Party and State in developing a modern and synchronous health system, associated with the goal of improving the quality of care, protection and improving people's health in the new period.
