The Ministry of Health urgently requests to speed up the measles vaccination campaign

On the evening of April 4, the Ministry of Health provided information on the implementation of the measles vaccination campaign nationwide.

The Ministry of Health said: Implementing the direction of the Prime Minister in Official Dispatch No. 23/CD-TTg dated March 25, 2025 on accelerating Measles vaccination, the Ministry of Health has actively implemented synchronous solutions to speed up the progress of the measles vaccination campaign.

The Ministry of Health has proactively mobilized resources to ensure adequate and timely supply of Measles vaccines to provinces and cities across the country.

Along with the immunization campaign in 2024 and 2025, on the basis of the local proposal needs, the Ministry of Health issued a plan to implement the vaccination campaign for measles prevention and control in 2025 phase 2, of which deployed in 54 provinces and cities (except for 9 provinces and cities including Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi, Ca Mau, Kon Tum, Long An, Soc Trang, Ben Tre, Kien Giang, Lieu, Lieu, Lieu, Lieu, Lieu, Lieu, in the plan 1 year 2025) Children from full 6 months to under 9 months of age, children from 1- 10 years old have not been injected with enough vaccine to contain measles components as prescribed with the goal of covering 95% or more.

Provinces and cities have urgently implemented activities to review subjects, propagate, mobilize parents and guardians to take their children for vaccination, organize flexible vaccination forms suitable to the characteristics of each region and area, including vaccination on holidays (Saturday, Sunday) or evening vaccination.

By the end of April 3, 53/54 provinces had vaccinated 762,320/800.719 subjects, reaching 95.2% (reaching the planned target), Can Tho City alone, because it had completed vaccination for groups of subjects with a high rate in 2024 and early 2025, had a few subjects that needed to be vaccinated and implemented on regular vaccination days.

40/53 provinces have achieved an vaccination rate of over 95%; of which, 05 provinces have the highest vaccination rates including Bac Giang (98.0%), Khanh Hoa (97.5%), Phu Yen (97.5%), Lang Son (97.4%), Tien Giang (97.3%); 12/53 provinces have high vaccination rates from 90-95%, only Hoa Binh has an vaccination rate of less than 90% and is continuing to provide catch-up vaccination for children with delayed vaccination.

During the implementation of the Measles vaccination campaign in 2025, the Ministry of Health has closely monitored the implementation progress in provinces and cities; continuously directed and urged provinces and cities to urgently complete the vaccination campaign, ensuring timeliness, safety and economy, efficiency, and ending the campaign no later than March 31, 2025; provinces and cities reported daily updates on vaccination data, vaccine use rates, information on the epidemic situation for timely direction.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health issued documents directing and guiding localities to speed up the implementation of the campaign and established 6 Inspection, Supervision, Guidance and Direction Teams for disease prevention and control and implementation of measles vaccination campaigns in 25 provinces and cities from March 20-31, 2025.
