The Department of Education and Training (DET) of Can Tho City has just issued an official dispatch on coordinating to speed up vaccination and strengthen the prevention and control of measles.
Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training requested the Department of Education and Training of districts and towns, educational institutions under the Department at primary level to organize the implementation of the tasks assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training and the City People's Committee; strengthen propaganda and mobilize parents and families to take children and students for full and timely measles vaccination; coordinate the organization of vaccination points at schools to ensure safety; conduct review, history check and dosage vaccination for preschool children and primary school students according to instructions.

Propagate and mobilize students, civil servants, public employees, and workers to proactively implement measles prevention and control measures; regularly monitor the health of preschool children and students and immediately notify medical facilities when detecting suspected cases of the disease to take timely measures to prevent the spread in schools.
Continue to promote communication on measles prevention and respiratory infectious diseases; regularly update information on the epidemic situation and strictly implement disease prevention and control requirements according to the instructions of the health sector.
Previously, the People's Committee of Can Tho City issued an official dispatch on accelerating vaccination, preventing and controlling measles in the face of the predicted complicated developments. The City People's Committee assigned the Director of the Department of Health to preside over and coordinate with Heads of agencies, units and localities to organize and complete the measles vaccination campaign in March 2025.

According to information from the Department of Health, in 2024, Can Tho City recorded 191 cases of measles positive, 250 cases of clinically diagnosed measles; no deaths have been recorded. According to the results from 2024 to 2025, the city recorded 9 measles outbreaks ( ended) in 9 districts. Of which, Binh Thuy, Ninh Kieu and Cai Rang districts are the 3 localities that recorded higher numbers of measles positive cases than the remaining localities.
From the beginning of the year to March 15, 2025, the city recorded 29 cases of measles positive, 254 cases of clinical diagnosed measles; no deaths have been recorded. The number of suspected measles rash fever cases in the first quarter of 2025 increased compared to the same period, the health sector predicts that the measles situation will continue to develop complicatedly in the coming time, thereby promoting the implementation of many preventive and control measures.
