On October 9, at the regular September meeting organized by the Can Tho City People's Committee, Director of the Can Tho City Department of Health Hoang Quoc Cuong informed about the progress of implementing tasks to restart the investment project to build the Can Tho City Oncology Hospital (scale of 500 beds).
Mr. Cuong said that in August, the People's Committee of Can Tho City sent an official dispatch to the Ministries of Planning and Investment, Finance, Construction, Health, Justice, and Foreign Affairs to ask for opinions on the contents of adjusting the investment policy for the project to build the Can Tho City Oncology Hospital.
Accordingly, the capital structure will be adjusted from Hungarian ODA loans to state budget capital.
It is known that in the previous approval decision, the total investment of this project was more than 1,700 billion VND (including ODA loan from Hungary of more than 1,395 billion VND, counterpart capital of Can Tho City of more than 330 billion VND).
The project implementation period is expected to be adjusted until December 31, 2027. In addition, the project investment content and scale are also adjusted, and it is proposed not to continue implementing the condition that at least 50% of goods originate from Hungary.
At the same time, the report proposed that the Prime Minister apply the designated bidding method for the additional volume of 481m2 of block D. The currency for payment for the EPC contract (main contract) is adjusted from Euro to VND.
The Director of the Department of Health of Can Tho City also said that, in addition to discussing with the central ministries and branches on the proposed adjustments mentioned above, the department has met with the contractor consortium to resolve difficulties and problems of the project; worked with the project management consultant.
In the coming time, the department will continue to discuss with the contractor consortium to agree on the contents related to the EPC contract and submit it to the competent authority for consideration.
Previously, in August 2024, speaking with Lao Dong reporter, Mr. Cuong said: "If it is fastest, maybe in the first or second quarter of 2025, the Can Tho City Oncology Hospital project will be restarted."
