Medical human resources lack foreign language skills
At the workshop on developing health tourism in Da Nang City, Mr. Tran Chi Cuong, Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee emphasized that this is the golden time for Da Nang to position itself in the field of health tourism. The goal is to create unique medical tourism products, competing fairly with leading medical centers in the region.
With the current development of both the local tourism and healthcare sectors, along with the trend of domestic and foreign tourists, Da Nang City needs to create medical tourism products, which will soon affirm its name. How can people mention medical examination and treatment not only Singapore and Malaysia but also Da Nang City", Mr. Tran Chi Cuong emphasized.
At the workshop, Dr. CKII Tran Thanh Thuy, Director of the Da Nang Department of Health, also pointed out the limitations of Da Nang Medical Tourism such as lack of legal framework, disjointed linkages between stakeholders, lack of effective public-private models, and lack of specialized services for international visitors. At the same time, traditional medicine and rehabilitation services are still weak, medical human resources lack foreign language skills and serve international customers, and lack specialized training programs. In addition, promotional activities are ineffective and lack medical service standards specifically for international visitors.
Developing high-quality human resources
Da Nang City also possesses rich natural resources, unique culture and a clean living environment - important factors that create attraction for tourism associated with health care. However, in reality, the medical tourism model in Da Nang is still in the starting phase and there is not really a close connection between sectors.
In particular, Dr. Le Duc Nhan, Director of Da Nang Hospital, said that he is ready to deploy international health insurance with facilities, human resources, information technology and standard medical examination and treatment procedures. Proactively connecting with international insurance companies and completing the process is the key to success.
Therefore, Dr. Le Duc Nhan, Director of Da Nang Hospital, proposed to invest in upgrading infrastructure and equipment to international standards, standardizing processes and making costs transparent. At the same time, developing a team of high-quality human resources with professional foreign language and communication skills, establishing a specialized department to support international patients. In addition, the Da Nang health sector also needs to apply digital technology in insurance management, promote communication, and build a brand of high-quality public hospitals.
The cooperation between all parties, along with improving service quality and effective promotion strategies, promises to be a lever to make Da Nang a bright spot on the national and regional medical tourism map.
