According to the Da Nang Department of Health, up to now, most medical facilities have basically ensured the need for medicine for medical examination and treatment, including emergency medicine, necessary medicine for inpatient treatment and some outpatient medicine for the treatment of chronic diseases. However, the shortage of medicine for medical examination and treatment has been reported by medical facilities since the second quarter and is still locally and temporarily recorded at some medical facilities in the city due to interruptions while waiting for bidding results.
The Department of Health is currently evaluating the plan to select contractors for centralized drug procurement at the local level for the period 2024 - 2026, and the results are expected to be applied from July 2025. While waiting for the results of centralized drug procurement, medical facilities are simultaneously implementing many solutions to deal with drug shortages.
As of October 31, public health facilities in the city have organized 107 bidding packages with 5,410 pharmaceutical products and a total value of VND964 billion. Of which, the contractor selection results have been approved for 78 bidding packages with 1,810 pharmaceutical products and a total value of VND337 billion.
The drug bidding packages that have had results are mainly implemented in the form of designated bidding and direct procurement to promptly supply drugs to maintain the operation of medical examination and treatment facilities in urgent cases, avoiding harm to the lives and health of people or emergency treatment of patients in emergency situations. The remaining drug bidding packages are continuing to be organized for procurement, expected to be completed in the fourth quarter depending on the scale of the bidding package.
