The 2025 KIT-ASEAN Scientific Conference marks a new step forward in scientific cooperation between the Kyoto Institute of Science and Technology, Japan ( Kyoto Institute of Technology - KIT) and universities and research institutes in the ASEAN region. This is the third time the event has been held in Hanoi.
This year's conference was attended by Prof. Dr. Kaeko Kamei - Vice Principal of the Kyoto Institute of Science and Technology, and an honorary professor of Hanoi Medical University; and representatives of many universities from Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia. In addition, there are also the participation of scientists, graduate students and KIT graduates working across the country of Vietnam.

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Ta Thanh Van, former Party Secretary, Chairman of the School Council, Former Principal, Coordinator of the cooperation program between KIT and Hanoi Medical University, expressed his gratitude to the Kyoto Institute of Science and Technology, the Japanese Government and ASEAN partners for accompanying Vietnam in the process of training high-quality human resources.

Kyoto Institute of Science and Technology is one of Japan's leading research universities in the fields of materials science, biotechnology - biomedical, information technology and industrial design. Over the past three decades, the Kyoto Institute of Science and Technology has become one of Vietnam's close partners. Many key officials of Hanoi Medical University have matured from this cooperation program.
Among them, there are Prof. Dr. Ta Thanh Van; Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thien Ngoc, former Head of the Department of Chemistry, the first Vietnamese graduate student at the Kyoto Institute of Science and Technology after the country's reunification in 1975 .
From 2002 to present, KIT has trained 397 Vietnamese students, of which 50 students have participated in training and internship programs here.
At the workshop, scientists focused on discussing two key scientific topics. First is biomedical technology, focusing on advanced research directions, from nano materials, biological sensors to gene - cell therapy and nuclear engineering... These studies not only contribute to improving the quality of diagnosis and treatment but also open up the prospect of application in complex diseases that require high technology.

The second field is artificial intelligence and digital transformation in healthcare. Experts share experiences in applying AI to analyzing biometric data, disease prediction; machine learning models; digital transformation of the health system; ethics and AI governance in the context of modern medicine.
Also within the framework of the event, Hanoi Medical University, on behalf of 7 universities and research institutes of Vietnam, organized an Honorable spread to recognize and honor more than 30 years of dedication of Professor, Dr. Kaeko Kamei in training high-quality human resources for Vietnam and ASEAN.
