Fake milk for sensitive, weakest subjects

Regarding the production line of nearly 600 types of fake powdered milk, up to now, the police investigation agency of the Ministry of Public Security has prosecuted and detained Vu Manh Cuong, Hoang Manh Ha and 6 others to investigate the crimes of producing and trading fake goods as food and violating regulations on accounting, causing serious consequences.

The police determined that since August 2021, Cuong and Ha's group has grasped the increasing demand for nutritional products, dietary supplements, and powdered nutritional products (commonly known as powdered milk) in the domestic market.

Up to now, this line has produced 573 different types of powdered milk. Milk for people with diabetes, kidney failure, premature babies, lack of months and pregnant women.

Ingredients that announce the product include bird's nest extract, herring stings, macadamia flour, walnut flour... but in reality, these substances are completely absent.

The suspects have removed some input materials and replaced, adding some additives. The police agency determined that the milk powder has a quality target of some substances of less than 70% of the announcement, eligible to determine as a fake goods.

Prior to this information, many people are concerned that over the past time, many people have used fake milk. On social networks, people race to take photos of all kinds of milk that they and their children are using, then shocked with the images of fake milk that the authorities have exposed.

A mother commented that many people hurt: "Oh, my baby's milk is born."

"I was thin and drinking milk forever (one of the brands of fake milk has just been exposed by the police) how much money is still thin, so it is fake milk, so brutally" - a resident shared on social networks.

Fake milk subjects have targeted customers such as people with diabetes, kidney failure, premature babies, lack of months and pregnant women ... are the most sensitive and weak objects in society. Many people only exclaimed: "Too cruel", "too cruel" ...

Harm greatly for human health

In this regard, Dr.BS Truong Hong Son, Director of the Vietnam Applied Medicine Institute said that: In terms of nutritional content, poor quality milk, fake milk may not guarantee to provide enough energy or vitamins and minerals such as the component table on the box.

According to the authorities, the milk that these two companies produce, although announced as being extracted from bird's nest, hypogastric plants... is not actually in the product.

This makes consumers mistakenly think about the nutritional content in milk, ignoring additional supplements from other food sources. Therefore, when using this milk, the elderly and young children are at high risk of nutritional deficiencies or malnutrition.

"At the same time, if the production process, packaging is not closed and ensures the standards of food safety and hygiene, dairy is very susceptible to infections of bacteria and mold, causing users to experience problems such as digestive disorders, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, allergies, even poisoning," Dr. Son said.

For poor quality dairy products, not the right ingredients as published, according to experts, consumers are very difficult to identify, only when the authorities test each specific milk component can be detected.

Therefore, Dr. Son recommends that the authorities need to strengthen inspection and examination to ensure the interests of consumers.
