On the afternoon of October 1, information from the People's Committee of Bao Thang commune said that the body of victim Ly A Hien (born in 1979, residing in Lai Chau province) was found by the authorities at 5:30 p.m. the same day, about 600m from the location where the water was initially swept away.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, at around 5am on October 1, in Lang Giang village, Bao Thang commune, 4 workers hired for Ms. Ngo Thi Dung's family came to the fish pond to work. Suddenly, the pond bank broke, and the water rushed the group down the stream.
The incident left 1 person dead, 1 person missing and 2 people injured.
Among them, Ms. Ly Thi Dan (born in 1985) and her husband, Mr. Tan A Than (born in 1987), residing in Nam Ma commune, Lai Chau province, were injured and are being treated at General Hospital No. 2 of Lao Cai province.
At noon, the authorities found the body of Ms. Tan Thi Niem (born in 1976, residing in Nam Tam commune, Lai Chau). The remaining victim, Ly A Hien (Ms. Niem's husband), was found the same afternoon.
Immediately after the incident, leaders of the Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Bao Thang commune directly visited, encouraged, and supported the injured victims being treated at the hospital.
