On May 5, news from the Hai Phong City People's Committee said: Implementing Document No. 2352/BYT-QLD dated April 20, 2025 of the Ministry of Health on strengthening the fight against fake drugs and health protection foods, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong has just given instructions to request departments, branches, and localities to drastically implement measures to prevent the production, trading, and circulation of fake and unknown health protection drugs and foods in the city.
Accordingly, departments, branches and localities in the city based on the functions and tasks assigned to seriously deploy the directions of the Government, especially Directive No. 17/CT-TTg dated June 19, 2018 on strengthening the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, manufacturing, trading of fake goods, poor quality goods in the field of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, functional foods, traditional medicine and medicinal herbs; and Capital No. 41/CD-TTg dated April 17, 2025 on handling of acts of production and trading of medicines, food protection food.
The city assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with the City Police, the Department of Health and the relevant units to implement the peak period to fight against drugs and food to protect fake health, focusing on the investigation, detection and handling of establishments, subjects of production, distribution or Unit of consuming fake products, unknown origin. At the same time, strengthening the inspection and examination at the pharmaceutical business establishments, focusing on clarifying the origin and origin of products circulating in the market, and strictly handling violations.
Tightly control advertising and sales of drugs and health protection foods on online platforms such as the internet and social networks to detect early and strictly handle violations of the law related to false advertising or consumer fraud.
The Department of Health was assigned closely with the police force and functional agencies in investigating and handling cases related to drugs and food protection foods. Strengthen inspection and examination of the compliance with the law at establishments producing and trading pharmaceuticals and food, especially in key areas. Wholesale and retail activities of drugs must be strictly managed, ensuring the conditions for circulation licenses, valid invoices, comply with the regulations on sale of drugs as prescribed and connected to the drug supply facility.
The Department of Health coordinates with relevant departments and agencies to review and evaluate the effectiveness of the current regulations; promptly propose amendments and supplements to improve the effectiveness of state management in the field of pharmacy and health food. Promote propaganda activities to raise awareness for people about the risk and harm of the use of drugs and food to protect fake health and unknown origin; Encourage people to use drugs safely, properly and buy drugs at reputable facilities.
