During the course of work, patient male, 25 years old, was hit by a foreign object in the eye. The patient experienced severe eye pain, blurred vision, and excessive tearing, and visited the Vietnam-Sweden Uông Bí Hospital for examination.
Upon examination at the hospital, the patient's vision in the right eye decreased, the eye suffered a penetrating injury, hemorrhage, and retinal detachment.
Immediately after the examination, the doctors performed a foreign body removal and treated the penetrating eye injury.

The foreign object was a 2 cm long steel wire. After the surgery, the patient's condition stabilized, the right eye vision was clear, and there was no pain or discomfort, and the cornea was stable.
According to the ophthalmology department of the hospital, for corneal foreign bodies, if not treated properly and promptly, it may cause corneal ulcers, endophthalmitis, and the patient may suffer from permanent vision loss.
The hospital's doctors also advise the public: When a foreign object is hit into the eye, it is absolutely not recommended to remove the foreign object by oneself and not use any medication without a doctor's prescription. It is necessary to quickly visit a medical facility with an eye specialist for examination and timely treatment.
