On March 27, Binh Thuan Provincial Police said they had quickly solved the case, arrested the thief who broke into a house and broke the safe.
The theft occurred at a house in Sung Nhon commune, Duc Linh district, Binh Thuan province. The homeowner reported to the police that the thief had broken into the house, broken the safe and taken away a large amount of property including: 110 million VND in cash and 2.5 taels of 18K gold. The total value of the stolen property was about 250 million VND.

The working group of Binh Thuan Provincial Police in Duc Linh District coordinated with the Commune Police to conduct a crime scene investigation and deploy professional work to investigate the subject. After more than a day of active investigation, the working group identified the perpetrator as Mai Hong Quan (23 years old, residing in Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province).
The police arrested Quan while he was hiding at a motel in Duc Tai town, Duc Linh district. The evidence of the theft along with tools and means of committing the crime were also seized here.

At the investigation agency, Quan stated that after stealing the gold, he brought it to sell at a gold shop in Duc Tai town for nearly 80 million VND to have money for personal expenses. It is known that Quan has a previous conviction for theft.
Currently, Binh Thuan Provincial Police continue to investigate and handle the subject according to the provisions of the law.
