According to information from Hoa Binh Provincial Police, at around 8:50 p.m. on June 8, 2025, in Phuong So hamlet, Cao Duong commune, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet (born in 1973) was suddenly attacked by her son-in-law, Bui Thanh Tung (born in 1997, residing in Dong Quyt village, Hoa Son commune, Luong Son district) with a knife.
Ms. Tuyet was taken to the emergency room immediately afterwards but did not survive due to severe injuries.
Upon receiving the report, Hoa Binh Provincial Police directed the Criminal Police Department to coordinate with the Criminal Techniques Department, the Provincial People's Procuracy and Cao Duong Commune Police to conduct a crime scene investigation, autopsy and collect documents and evidence to serve the investigation.
At 11pm the same day, Bui Thanh Tung went to the Criminal Police Department of Hoa Binh Provincial Police to surrender. At the police station, Tung confessed to killing his mother-in-law.

According to initial statements, the cause of the incident stemmed from conflicts in married life. Around March 2025, due to disagreements during their cohabitation, Tung's wife, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Huyen (born in 1995), brought her 1-year-old son to the parents' house in Cao Duong commune to live.
On June 8, the couple continued to argue over text messages. At around 7:30 p.m. the same day, Tung drank beer at home and brought a grass cutter, drove a motorbike to his parents' house to meet his wife to "talk".
Here, during an argument with his wife, Mrs. Tuyet intervened but was slashed many times by Tung. After committing the crime, the subject left the scene and surrendered a few hours later.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Hoa Binh Province Police has issued a decision to temporarily detain Bui Thanh Tung to continue investigating the act of murder.
