On August 8, according to the Ministry of National Defense's Electronic Information Portal, this agency just held a working session on the results of implementing social housing in the Ministry of National Defense.
Accordingly, the Ministry of National Defense has compiled the total demand for social housing in the entire army to date at 76,686 apartments, and proposed to use 46 land plots (including 35 defense land plots and 11 land plots handed over by localities), with a total area of about 200 hectares to develop housing for the armed forces. To date, 34 provinces and cities have been proposed to arrange land funds with a total area of about 359 hectares.
Currently, a number of typical social housing projects are being implemented such as: Social housing project in Dong Anh, Hanoi, with a scale of 466 apartments, invested by Corporation 319, expected to be completed in 2026; Him Lam Phuc Loi Social Housing Project, Hanoi, with a scale of 1,080 apartments, expected to start construction in the first quarter of 2026; Social housing project at 324 Ly Thuong Kiet, Ho Chi Minh City, with a scale of 1,254 apartments, expected to be completed by the end of 2025; Housing project for the armed forces in the Army at number 40, lane 183 Hoang Van Thai, Phuong Liet ward, Hanoi, with a scale of about 336 apartments, is completing detailed planning for implementation.
The Ministry of National Defense is also coordinating with a number of localities to unify land locations and speed up the implementation of housing projects for the armed forces in the Army. Notably, in the pilot commercial housing projects under Resolution No. 171 of the National Assembly, the Ministry of National Defense has agreed on 6 land points, planning 30 hectares for social housing to serve officers and soldiers.
Currently, the General Department of Logistics and Engineering is actively coordinating with relevant agencies and units to complete the "housing development project for the armed forces in the Army", expected to report to the Ministry of National Defense and the Central Military Commission in August 2025.
Speaking at the above meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Head of the Housing Policy Steering Committee of the Ministry of National Defense - requested the General Department of Logistics - Engineering and agencies and units to urgently complete the "housing development project for the armed forces in the Army"; proactively coordinate closely with localities and enterprises to choose suitable construction locations, ensuring synchronous infrastructure; urgently complete investment procedures for projects included in the plan, ensuring progress, quality and efficiency.
During the implementation process, it is necessary to carry out settlement work in a complete, correct manner, publicly and transparently, avoiding loss and waste; at the same time, research, advise, and propose the development of housing policies suitable for target groups in the Army, ensuring compliance with regulations, approaching reality and being highly feasible.
