On September 30, Cam Ranh City People's Committee held a conference to announce the Project to adjust the general planning of Cam Ranh city to 2045.
According to the adjusted planning project, the development orientation of Cam Ranh urban subdivisions includes 9 areas.
Cam Ranh City People's Committee is reviewing, supplementing, upgrading communes to wards and upgrading current wards to meet the set goals. To become a district by 2030, Cam Ranh needs to meet 28 standards according to the instructions of the Provincial People's Committee, at the same time, 6 current communes of the city must meet the standards to become wards.
The planning boundary of Cam Ranh city is limited to the East by the East Sea; to the West by Khanh Son district and Bac Ai district (Ninh Thuan); to the South by Thuan Bac district (Ninh Thuan); to the North by Cam Lam district. The planning scale has a total area of about 33,708.75 hectares.
The nature of the planning area is the economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technical center of the southern region of Khanh Hoa province; a tourism - logistics urban area; an important road, rail, waterway and air traffic hub of the province, ensuring national defense and security; synchronously connected with Cam Lam airport urban area according to the orientation of Resolution No. 09 of the Politburo; a new development area interwoven with a number of existing residential areas.
Currently, Cam Ranh City has set a roadmap for 2024 to establish and approve the Cam Ranh City Urban Development Program to 2030, with a vision to 2045.
From 2027 to 2028, the city will develop and submit for approval a project to upgrade and recognize Cam Ranh as a type II urban area. In 2028, Cam Ranh needs to meet 3 standards: Average income per capita/month compared to the national average: 1.4 - 1.75 times; the rate of non-agricultural labor in the inner city and inner town reaches 80 - 85%; the ratio of traffic land compared to urban construction land reaches 15 - 22%. From 2026 to 2028, there will be 6 communes becoming wards of the district.
From 2028 to 2029, a project to establish Cam Ranh district and its wards will be developed and approved according to the general planning orientation. To strive to become a district by 2030, Cam Ranh needs a total capital demand of about 220,000 billion VND to focus on investing in many key projects and works.
In early 2024, Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tan Tuan signed a document proposing the policy of establishing a general urban planning for Khanh Hoa in the direction of the whole province becoming a centrally-run city to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision.
According to the orientation to 2030, Khanh Hoa has 9 district-level administrative units including Nha Trang city, two districts Cam Ranh and Cam Lam (newly established) and 3 towns (2 newly established towns) and 3 districts.
Accordingly, regarding the proposal to upgrade 2 district-level administrative units into 2 districts, the Department of Construction and the consulting unit have reviewed, calculated and found that the feasible and reasonable option is to upgrade Cam Ranh City and Cam Lam District into 2 districts.
Currently, Khanh Hoa province has agreed to maintain 9 district-level administrative units, including Nha Trang city; establish 2 districts Cam Ranh and Cam Lam based on the population and area of Cam Ranh city and Cam Lam district.
