Approving the policy of many new projects
According to the Da Nang Department of Construction, in April alone, the City People's Committee approved the investment policy for many new projects. Prominent is the social housing project in Hoa Xuan ward with a scale of 1,326 apartments, total capital of more than 2,000 billion VND. Previously, two projects in the Nui Thanh commune area were also approved with a total of more than 1,290 apartments.
According to the Government's plan to implement the Project "Investing in building at least 1 million social housing apartments", in the 2026-2030 period, Da Nang is assigned a target of more than 26,000 apartments. The city has currently identified 36 projects with about 31,000 apartments, exceeding the assigned target.
According to residents, many apartment buildings in Da Nang built 10 to 30 years ago are seriously degraded.
Mr. Nguyen Phu Hai - a resident of Tan Lap 1 residential area, Hoa Cuong ward - said that in old apartment buildings, leaks and damage affect people's lives.
Mr. Hai suggested that Da Nang needs to have a plan to soon complete the target of 32,000 social housing units by 2030. At the same time, strictly managing the existing housing fund is a key solution to avoid wasting state resources.
At Thanh Bo 4 Residential Area, Hoa Cuong ward, Ms. Ho Bich Ngoc said that there needs to be a roadmap to support low-income people. She emphasized that the city needs to review vacant housing funds or use them for improper purposes to prioritize households with urgent needs. According to her, the management of social housing funds needs publicity and transparency so that people in difficult circumstances can access a place to settle down, helping them stabilize their lives and contribute to the local economy.
Preparing land fund at 46 locations
Da Nang is implementing a plan to prepare land funds at 46 locations to ensure the goal of completing an average of about 5,000 apartments per year. Regarding the situation of degraded old apartment buildings, Da Nang City requests the Department of Construction and housing management units to annually increase the budget for periodic maintenance and repair to ensure safety for residents. Da Nang City People's Committee directs levels to inspect and verify information from each specific apartment building area to come up with quick handling plans, not to let it be prolonged.
In addition to housing for low-income people, Da Nang also focuses on developing worker housing. The city is implementing a trade union housing project of about 735 apartments in the Hai Van area and renovating worker housing in Hoa Cam Industrial Park into social housing for rent.
Mr. Le Quang Nam - Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee - informed that the city is reviewing and inspecting to detect abandoned or illegally used apartments. Mr. Nam affirmed: "If violations are detected, functional agencies will have drastic handling measures, including the revocation or transfer of land use rights to redistribute to policy beneficiaries." Mr. Nam affirmed that the city will continue to listen to and improve the mechanism so that each social housing becomes a safe home, meeting the expectations of the people, contributing to the social security goal for Da Nang.
