Recently, the People's Committee of Can Tho City issued Decision No. 493/QD-UBND dated February 25, 2025 approving the plan and list of land plots to be auctioned for land use rights in 2025.

A total of 18 land plots will be auctioned in 2025, including: Land of the Southwest Petroleum Depot (Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District), Land of the Cai Khe Roundabout (Cai Khe Ward, Ninh Kieu District); 3 plots of villas belonging to the 5% of the land fund of the Residential Area Project Lot No. 11D invested by Long Thinh Company Limited (Phu Thu Ward, Cai Rang District); Land of the old Water Plant (Chau Van Liem Ward, O Mon District) ... The total area of the auctioned land plots is nearly 50 hectares.
Some land plots are located in prime locations right in the city center, considered "diamentals" such as: Cai Khe roundabout land (area of over 23,000m2); Song Hau tourist area land (area of nearly 79,000m2)...
On March 1, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper recorded at Cai Khe roundabout, this area has many overgrown grass trees inside, while workers are still taking care of the surrounding trees.

Living about 100m from the land, Mr. Lap said that in the past, there were some very exciting activities here, but now they are no longer organized, which is very wasteful.
"Such empty land spoils the urban beauty, many restaurants and households littering," said Mr. Lap.
According to the People's Committee of Can Tho City, the purpose of auctioning the land plots is to effectively exploit public land funds according to approved planning and land use plans, increase revenue for the city budget, supplement public investment capital and social welfare.

This also aims to solve the need for land use for organizations and individuals to invest in socio-economic development, solve housing needs and improve the quality of housing for people.
