On July 14, Ms. Vo Thi Que Huong - Deputy Director of the Hue City Department of Finance - said that according to the latest report, related to the North - South high-speed railway project, the section passing through Hue City is about 95.1 km long, stretching through 12 communes and wards, with a total affected area of up to 825 hectares.
Of which, more than 8,100 households are directly affected by site clearance. About 900 of these households will have to be relocated and arranged in resettlement areas. The project was also forced to relocate about 6,850 graves.
To meet the housing needs of people after relocation, Hue City plans to arrange 22 resettlement areas with a total area of about 66 hectares, along with 6 cemetery areas (area of about 6 hectares).
The People's Committee of Hue City has assigned the task to 3 Construction Investment Project Management Boards of Areas 1, 2, 3, together with the Economic - Industrial Park Project Management Board to be the investor to implement the construction of resettlement areas and cemeteries.
It is expected that on August 19, 2025, the first 5 resettlement areas will start construction, the remaining areas will be implemented in 2025. The goal is to complete all construction and site clearance work and hand over by December 2026.
It is expected that in the North of Hue City, the project will go between the boundary of Phong Dien Industrial Park and the Phong Dien Industrial Park Expansion Planning. Next, the project crosses the Huong River, into the center and southeast of the city.
The project continues to pass through Cau Hai lagoon area, cross National Highway 49B to Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone, turn right, cross National Highway 1A and the current railway, through Hai Van Pass to Da Nang City.
