On August 2, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province said that it is implementing many solutions to speed up site clearance and resettlement arrangements for people affected by the North-South high-speed railway project through the area.
The leaders of Khanh Hoa province have directed the Department of Finance to coordinate with relevant units to urgently review legal procedures, completely handle problems, and ensure the progress of the project is on schedule.
According to statistics, the high-speed railway project through Khanh Hoa province is over 191km long, with a total reclaimed land area of over 2,134 hectares, affecting 5,465 households and 36 organizations, including 3 schools. The total number of households needing to be resettled is about 1,680 households.
Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has proposed to build 28 resettlement areas with a total area of 61.2 hectares, with an estimated cost of about 1,142 billion VND.
In the southern area of the province, from Cong Hai commune to Phuoc Ha commune (about 61km long), the province plans to invest in 5 resettlement areas to arrange accommodation for 707 households in 5 communes and wards. The preliminary cost for this area is about 590 billion VND.
The provincial working group surveyed 7 locations, thereby selecting suitable locations and directing relevant departments and branches to speed up site clearance progress.
In Nam Cam Ranh commune, Cam Thinh Dong resettlement area is expected to receive an investment of 80.38 billion VND from the local budget to resettle 18 households. According to the plan registered with the Ministry of Construction, the project will start construction on August 19.
However, the implementation is currently facing problems related to bidding package complaints and must wait for the Department of Finance to resolve them.
