According to Lao Dong reporters, after nearly 50 years of construction, Nghia Do apartment building (Cau Giay district, Hanoi) is seriously deteriorating.
Accordingly, Nghia Do apartment building has 5 floors with two rows A and B, put into use since 1976. After many years of exploitation and use, the two rows of houses have now become dilapidated, degraded and some items have been severely damaged.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Cuong (living in the area) confided that due to the limited space, many households in the apartment building had to expand their living space by building a series of "tiger cages" and “bird cages” to serve as kitchens, places to dry clothes, and bathrooms.
According to Mr. Cuong, the structure of the apartment building is seriously degraded, leaking even when it doesn’t rain, and the walls are often damp. Many households here hope that Hanoi City will soon take measures to renovate the old apartment building so that they can quickly stabilize their lives.
Similarly, Mr. Tran Van The (living in Nghia Do apartment building) said that after nearly 50 years of construction, the building is seriously degraded, with a tangle of "tiger cages".
Living with the damp, peeling walls of the house for many years, Mr. The's family does not want to repair it anymore because the more they repair it, the more it will deteriorate.
Previously, the Hanoi People's Committee and Cau Giay District People's Committee had approved the investment and construction project to renovate houses A and B of Nghia Do Collective Housing Area in 2013.
According to this plan, the project includes 515 apartments to serve a population of about 2,100 people, of which the on-site resettlement area has about 246 households in buildings A and B.
The total investment of the project is expected to be about 995 billion VND, with the implementation period calculated from the first quarter of 2013 and completed and put into use in the first quarter of 2016. However, up to now, the project is still inactive.
Mr. Nguyen The Anh - Vice President of Hanoi Real Estate Club - said that in recent times, the old apartment building segment has been almost forgotten because there have not been optimal renovation plans.
However, after ministries and branches, Hanoi City continuously promoted the renovation and reconstruction of apartment buildings along with compensation, support and resettlement plans, "awakening" this type of building, which many people have been waiting for.
