Changing the offside rules at EURO 2024?
According to The Sun, EURO 2024 may not consult VAR for offside situations. The reason is that Dutch company Ballinno claimed UEFA had copied the idea of detecting offside errors with their technology.
The semi-automatic offside moves used in the game have a microchip integrated inside the ball to provide higher accuracy. The chip is capable of detecting 500 movements per second. Ballinno has filed a lawsuit for granting a copyright infringement against UEFA.
In case Ballinno wins the case, UEFA will not be able to use VAR to determine the offside at EURO 2024.
