Liverpool's huge summer spending season shows no signs of ending, but there are still many reasons behind the crazy and thrilling titles.
According to detailed information from Mirror Football on Saturday, people involved at Anfield believe that The Kop are getting closer to turning Marc Guehi into their 6th rookie this summer. They have previously successfully signed Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and goalkeepers Giorgi Mamardashvili, Armin Pecsi and Freddie Woodman.
The signing of Guehi will push Liverpool's total spending this summer, including the additional amounts, up to £250 million. However, with the gaps in the squad that need to be filled, it is not surprising that the Premier League champions have acted decisively like that.

Federico Chiesa is the only new face added to the squad in Arne Slot's first summer at Anfield. The Italian winger is also the only new player Liverpool have signed in the last 3 transfer windows if not considering the deal with Mamardashvili.
The lack of action during that time turned out to be necessary for Slot and The Kop. The Dutch coach can appreciate what he has in hand and still be eligible to win the Premier League.
This summer, Trent Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid and Liverpool immediately added Frimpong. The left-back was Liverpool's weakness last season and Kerkez appeared. Caoimhin Kelleher moved to Brentford for £18 million, mostly because he knew Mamardashvili was coming. When feeling short of reserve options in goal, Liverpool immediately brought Pecsi and Woodman.
Meanwhile, whether Liverpool or any other ambitious team, they cannot miss the opportunity to recruit Wirtz. In addition, Liverpool have occasionally lacked output from attacking midfield positions in the past year. With the likes of Harvey Elliott and Darwin Nunez likely to leave, Wirtz's arrival is all the more anticipated.

Back to Guehi and the ongoing situations make Liverpool's need for a reliable centre-back even more urgent.
Jarell Quansah is expected to undergo a medical check-up at Bayer Leverkusen in the coming days. The Reds will earn around £35m from the deal, all of which are pure profit under PSR terms, similar to Alexander-Arnold and Kelleher.
Meanwhile, Ibrahima Konate has only one year left on his contract and is being cared for by Paris St-Germain and Real Madrid. The latest reports show that the French midfielder is not satisfied with what Liverpool have provided so far. And right now, a farewell seems to be happening.

Therefore, with Quansah and Konate likely to leave, the need for a new central defender for The Kop is clear. Guehi seems to be the player Liverpool have decided. There are doubts surrounding Guehi, and especially his aerial ability. However, he is the captain who won the FA Cup with Crystal Palace and is a regular starter for England.
Guehi will turn 25 in two weeks, still have a year left on his contract and is ready for the next challenge in his career. Currently, there are few more interesting destinations than Liverpool for Guehi to choose.
