The French team opened the tournament in the US with a big 4-0 victory over Atletico Madrid, in the opening match of Group B. This victory marked a smooth start for PSG, just over two weeks after they beat Inter Milan 5-0, to be crowned in the UEFA Champions League.
In the next match, PSG will meet Brazil's Botafogo. In the opening match, Botafogo beat Seattle Sounders FC of the US with a score of 2-1.
Sharing before this match, PSG goalkeeper Donnarumma said that the whole team is focusing on the goal of winning the fifth title this season.
He said: "The FIFA Club World Cup 2025 is a very important tournament for PSG, we have to continue to focus 100% to reach the final and win the championship trophy. Everyone is eager to win and win titles here. That is very important for the present and the future of the team.
Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz said PSG are comfortable as the favourites to win the US league. According to him, the fact that people are talking and evaluating PSG a lot brings positivity to the team. He and his teammates did not feel any pressure because they were highly appreciated.
Botafogo is a long-standing Brazilian club. They qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup by winning the Copa Libertador for the first time in the club's history in 2024.
PSG's Portuguese international striker, Goncalo Ramos, said Botafogo is an unknown.
I know a little about Botafogo, I know their coaches, but I dont watch many of their games because they are late. But they are a strong team, for us, playing against a team from Brazil is different."
The PSG vs Botafogo match will take place at 8:00 a.m. on June 20. Whichever team wins in this match will soon qualify for the round of 16.
