Overview
Despite some familiar mistakes this season, Juventus are maintaining an unbeaten record in Serie A, with a streak of 10 consecutive matches without a loss since April.
The 1-1 draw against Atalanta, a team that is already facing many injury problems, helped the "Old Daes" get close to the top group including Napoli, Roma and Milan, with 11 points up to now. However, this result was still disappointing when Juventus played at home but had to wait for Juan Cabal's equalizer to help them keep a point.
In the Champions League, Igor Tudor's team just had a dramatic 2-2 draw at Villarreal. They could not maintain their advantage when Renato Veiga, a player being loaned by Juventus, scored the equalizer late in the match.
Tudor certainly has a lot of work to do, especially in the context of Juventus's unsynchronized transfer policy in recent years. His next test will take place this weekend.
Juventus previously won against Milan at home in January. However, it was still their only win in the last four encounters between the two teams.
After a regrettable defeat in the 2024 Coppa Italia final, Massimiliano Allegri will return to face his former club Juventus for the first time since leaving.
Only Giovanni Trapattoni has led Juventus for more games than Allegri, who achieved great success in his first term before his second term ended in bitterness.
After a year of consideration, Allegri returned to Milan for a second try, where he is building a team towards the Serie A championship. Not having to worry about European competitions, the Rossoneri have won 12 points after the first rounds, including an important victory over defending champion Napoli.
Christian Pulisic scored one and assisted another in the 2-1 win at the San Siro, despite Milan having to play with 10 men before the end of the match. Their midfield was upgraded thanks to the strong influence of Luka Modric and Adrien Rabiot, helping the Rossoneri extend their winning streak to 4 and rise to the top of the rankings.
After beating old rival Antonio Conte last week, Allegri continued to aim for another important victory against Juventus.
Personnel situation
Juan Cabal was forced off with a thigh injury after just 15 minutes in the Champions League. Therefore, the Colombian full-back will have to sit out with Fabio Miretti this weekend.
The good news for Igor Tudor is that two key players, Bremer and Khephren Thuram, are both likely to return to play.
Up front, Lois Openda and Jonathan David are competing with Dusan Vlahovic. Notably, Openda is highly regarded and could make an impact in Serie A, while David was barely able to play in September.
On the other side of the front line, Milan's Pulisic is playing much more effectively this season with 6 goals, but has never scored against Juventus in the top flight of Italy.
In defence, Fikayo Tomori - who was pursued by Juventus in the summer transfer window - is struggling with a hamstring injury. Meanwhile, Pervis Estupinan must serve his suspension due to a red card in the match against Napoli. This would force Allegri to make more than just a change in defence.
Expected lineup:
Juventus: Di Gregorio, Gatti, Bremer, elly, Kalulu, Locatelli, Thuram, changeaso, Conceicao, Yildiz, Vlahovic.
AC Milan: Maignan, De Winter, Gabbia, Pavlovic, Saelemaekers, Fofana, Modric, Rabiot, Bartesaghi, Pulisic, Gimenez.
The match between Juventus and AC Milan takes place at 1:45 am on October 6 (Vietnam time).
