Tottenham are entering a crisis period, having lost 5/6 of their most recent matches in all competitions. Poor performance has made Spurs suspected of being unstable and coach Jose Mourinho has lost the trust of his students. However, striker Son Heung-min denied everything.
"Rumors are still just rumors. The atmosphere in the dressing room is still very good. Obviously, our spirit will depend on the result. The whole team will be disappointed if Tottenham lose, and also happy to win. Everyone is like that.
At the moment, our spirit is declining because of our poor performance but the dressing room has not changed. The players kept their positivity, laughed and focused on each match. There have been many false rumors but we are focusing on the next matches," Son shared at a press conference before the Europa League match against Wolfsberger.
Concurrently in the Premier League's Top 4 race and out of the FA Cup, Tottenham have only one Europa League chance to save them from a failed season. If they are "empty-handed", the possibility of Spurs losing their key players will be understandable.
Son Heung-min is currently the team's top scorer with 17 goals this season. However, the Korean player has not yet agreed to extend his contract with Tottenham (current contract until 2023).
"I think now is not the right time to discuss contracts. The whole team is focusing on the games, and that is the most important thing right now. I am very happy at Tottenham, I am trying to play better, both individually and collectively. Therefore, discussing a new contract at this time is unreasonable," Son Heung-min added.
The match between Wolfsberger and Tottenham in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 will take place at 0:55 tomorrow morning (February 19, Vietnam time), live on K+.
