Sunderland wins ticket to Premier League promotion

    Sunderland beat Sheffield Utd to qualify for the 2025-2026 Premier League.

    On the evening of May 24 (Vietnam time), Sunderland faced Sheffield United in the play-off match for a ticket to the Premier League for the 2025-2026 season. The two teams defeated Bristol City and Coventry City in the semi-finals.

    Sheffield United opened the scoring in the 25th minute. From Sunderland's unsuccessful corner kick, Sheffield players counterattacked quickly. Hamer passed the ball to Campbell to open the score.

    It was not until the 76th minute that Sunderland scored an equalizer. From an attacking combination, the ball was passed to the right wing and Mayenda scored.

    The match was dramatic in the extra minutes. Tom Watson scored from a long-range shot in the 90+5 minute to bring victory to Sunderland.

    This victory means Sunderland will return to the Premier League after 8 years.

    Thus, the 3 top teams in England will win tickets to play in the Premier League 2025-2026, namely Sunderland, Leeds and Burnley.
