Ten Hag changes to win
In Man United's 5th match in the Premier League, coach Ten Hag and his team won by 1 goal against Leicester City. Coincidentally, this was the third consecutive match in which the "Red Devils" got 3 points thanks to a goal more than their opponents, in a narrow victory (2-1 victory over Liverpool and 1-0 against Southampton).
Statistics after the win over Leicester City showed that Man United had 46% possession. They also have fewer shots, with 9 shots compared to 10 of the Foxes. But the effectiveness of Man United's attacks in finishing is worth discussing, when they had 2 shots as accurate as their opponents, bringing home a goal.
Ten Hag's M.U was haunted by their efforts to control the game, such as how they held the ball 63% against Brighton and 67% against Brentford. However, in the last 3 wins, the Red Devils have held the ball less, giving the game to Liverpool (30%), Southampton (52%) and Leicester City (46%).
Obviously, Ten Hag is accepting to give up his old position at Ajax, to accept that M.U will win with an applied style of play, based on counter-attacks.
Sancho shines
Against Leicester, Jadon Sancho scored the only goal. In a counter-attack by M.U, the former Dortmund star received a pass from Rashford, to deceive the Foxes goalkeeper and easily shot into an empty net.
In a series of 3 wins by Ten Hag's team, Sancho shined strongly with 2 goals. It is worth mentioning that in the 2 matches against Liverpool and Leicester City, the England winger also pointed 3 times. This shows that coach Ten Hag is making Sancho more and more dangerous, another harmless image like last season.
Taking on the left wing, Sancho is shaping himself to be a drill in the upcoming attack trio at M.U. Of which, Rashford played the highest, while the right wing belonged to rookie Antony. The rest, players like Elanga, Ronaldo and Martial will become backup options.
Ronaldo is still single
At Leicester City, Ronaldo continues to be on the bench. The Portuguese star has only started 1 of his last 5 matches for M.U. As long as Man United win without CR7, Ten Hag still shows that he is right with this decision.
On the field in the 68th minute to replace Sancho, Ronaldo was expected to make a difference. Despite efforts to compete and support teammates, the effectiveness CR7 has not brought much. His only highlight was probably his attempt to land the light goal that sent the ball wide of the goal in the 83rd minute.
After 5 matches this season, Ronaldo has not scored any goals. CR7 may be feeling the increasing pressure at M.U, so he has not given up hope of leaving this team, in the remaining few hours of the transfer window.
