On May 18, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Pham Ngoc Thinh - Vice Chairman of Ba Be District People's Committee - said that up to now, the flash flood in the district has killed 4 people, injured 2 people, and 1 missing person has been found safe.
"This can be considered the largest historic flood ever in the area, causing a lot of damage. The most serious was in the two communes of Yen Duong and Dong Phuc, each commune had 2 deaths. This flash flood is still large, causing more damage than last year's storm No. 3.


The locality is mobilizing all police forces, militia, and people to form working groups to support the families of the victims who suffered losses," the leader added.
In addition to human damage, flash floods also caused landslides and congestion on the connecting roads from DT258, through the Dong Luyen area to National Highway 279, Ba Be Lake roundabout, Km10+800 DT253 Road; Km10+800 DT253 Road, Na Gia village, Ha hieu commune.


5 hard bridges, 2 suspension bridges, 2 spillways, 3 embankments on the stream in Dia Linh commune were damaged. Many properties, crops, and livestock of the people were damaged.
Previously, as Lao Dong reported, in Tan lit village, Dong Phuc commune, a flash flood occurred at around 11:30 am last night, killing 2 people.
In Phieng Kham village, Yen Duong commune, flash floods occurred at 1:30 am on May 18, causing many losses in human lives and property.
