Social networks recently spread an image of a bill at a restaurant in Binh Giang district, Hai Duong province, causing a stir in public opinion. Accordingly, a customer after eating chicken hotpot at the restaurant discovered an additional bill of 200,000 VND for the items " making chicken + hotpot + vegetables", although the previous price was 600,000 VND/pot.
In a post shared on social media, the customer said that this customer's group had 5 people, asking for 600,000 VND from the chicken hotpot, then when paying, the staff calculated the bill and had more work to make chicken, hotpot water, and vegetables. 200,000 VND.
"I have never eaten chicken hotpot, but I only work hard to make chicken, hotpot water, and vegetables like that" - the customer wrote.
The post quickly attracted attention, creating many conflicting opinions. Some people were upset that such a fee calculation method was unreasonable and lacked transparency.
An account commented: "Calling for chicken hotpot but having to pay for hotpot water and chicken breast alone is unacceptable". Others said that it could be due to unclear staff consultation methods or easy-to-understand, confusing way of writing invoices.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of a restaurant in Hai Duong said that the new employee made a mistake when printing the invoices. The fee for "making chicken + hotpot + vegetables" was originally from another customer who brought chicken thanks to processing, but was mistakenly calculated to the bill of the guest posting. After discovering the incident, the restaurant fully refunded 200,000 VND and apologized to customers.
The incident at the restaurant in Hai Duong has now been resolved successfully.
