Thailand lost to Turkmenistan in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers

HOÀNG HUÊ |

On the night of June 10 (Vietnam time), Thailand suffered a 1-3 defeat to Turkmenistan in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

The Thai team is considered to have many difficulties when visiting Turkmenistan in the second match of the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup.

As soon as the opening whistle was raised, the away team's player defended hastily, creating conditions for Mihail Titov to steal the ball, scoring the opening goal for Turkmenistan in the first minute.

After losing very early, the "War Elephants" attacked to find a goal to level the gap. After about 15 minutes of continuous pressure but unable to score, Thailand had to reduce their attacks to avoid a second goal.

The visitors' efforts helped them equalize in the 35th minute. From a free kick, Supachai Jaided successfully jumped high in the air, sending the home team into the net, equalizing 1-1 for Thailand.

The joy was not yet complete, but just two minutes later, Thailand conceded a second goal after Yhlas Saparmammedow's close-range shot. The score was 2-1 in favor of Turkmenistan after the end of the first half.

In the second half, Thailand continued to attack. The away team's players had many opportunities to approach Turkmenistan's goal but failed to take advantage of them to score.

Not only did they try unsuccessfully, Thailand also conceded another goal in the 66th minute. From a corner kick on the right wing, Mekan Saparow jumped high to head the ball accurately, raising the score to 3-1 for Turkmenistan.

In the remaining minutes, Thailand did not create a significant opportunity towards Turkmenistan's goal. The match ended with a 3-1 victory for Turkmenistan.
